Humor and Poetry in Design by Jacques Maes
Jacques Maes series of comic drawings are intended to bring the folly out of things we take so seriously, things which are so common that we’ve become indifferent to them. He uses vintage images which are in public domain and uses his ingenuity to metamorph them into pieces of art, fun and worthy of recognition.
Irony is abundant in almost all of his works. He uses it to give humorous texture to the works; it is not that they would straight away force a laugh, but a subtle smile. That’s a, rarely seen, tangible effect that art has.
