20 Best Inspiring Examples of Illustrated Logos
Illustrated logos are simply put, illustrated. These are logos which tell stories. There was a time when designers started looking at them with a feeling akin to that of disgust. But now they’re back!
Illustrated logos are often very detailed. They contain a lot of minute details, with some appearing like a functional miniature painting.
In the mass hoard of minimalist, flat and blocky designs, these logos simply stand out owing to their illustrative iconography. Everyday we’re flooded with almost similar looking logos, difficult to remember. So, naturally when we see something, out of the ordinary and with an apparent meaning, it sticks in our memory. And that’s a very important function of any logo.
These logos generally contain human-drawn images (by that we mean not straight edged machine drawn shapes) of a variety of things; a mascot for the brand, or a scenery. They can even contain images depicting history of the brand or how consumers interact with that brand. Hence, the name illustration.
In the past few decades, illustrated logos were ousted by logos focusing more on functionality. They were seen by many designers, and clients alike, as archaic. But since these ‘functional’ logos are ironically defeating their purpose, good ol’ illustrations are making a comeback in logo designs.
