Historically, circles have been the most widely used shapes. This is owed partly to the fact that of all the other basic geometric shapes, only literal round shapes occur naturally. We don’t see perfect rectangles, or squares, or triangles in nature. In fact, we have become so accustomed to seeing them that it wouldn’t be a far fetched assumption to say that circles are the most familiar shapes to a human. There are everywhere!
Branding experts and logo designers have been tapping on to the familiarity with this shape for a very long time. Not just the familiarity, there’s also a fine amount of meaning and symbolism associated with the circular shape. It suggests a state of meditation, timelessness, and balance. Circle is also the shape of rings, of trust circles, of relationships and of sacred bonds.
